| Alright, many of you are familiar with the whole racism issue, or at least what they teach us kids in school: White versus Black, Black versus White, Men versus Women, Women versus Men, but then came time, and that started to die out. Don't get me wrong it's still present in a lot of cases, especially down south. But racism has been breeding, and I see it today, MORE THAN EVER in the Asian community. I read it in a newspaper, that yesterday, or a couple days ago, some people in Somerville made a call to a Chinese restaurant, made an order, and asked for it to be delivered. The delivery guy went to their place, only to meet a bloody, devastating fate. He was met by individuals who brutally bashed his face, cracked his skull, damaged his vision.....for the rest of his life. As I type he lies in a hospital, waiting for his family to decide to pull the plug or not.
No, racism is not over. If anything, it turned to the next race that hasn't been targeted yet in these recent years: Asians.
What upsets me is that I see it more than ever, in school, at the mall, on the bus, in a restaurant. It's fucking ridiculous. To know that our parents, your parents, someone else's parents, left their country, crossed seas, leaving their education and jobs, as a lawyer, physicist, teacher, banker, internation relations manager.......to become a chef, restaurant owner, delivery person, postal person, bus driver in hopes of giving their family, their children, a future.
Fuck America. Land of opportunities, freedom? That's bullshit. I don't believe that that delivery guy left China for his kids to have a decent life, and a chance to do whatever their dreams are, and to get his fucking brains bashed out, because of some idiots who just wanted to have some fun.
That "Ching, Chong, China Man" shit is fucked up. It needs to stop. I see that shit in school. Couple of seniors fucking with a tiny Asian kid, thinking that he won't do anything, except try to get away from them. I see that shit on the bus, where an elderly woman would try to ask for a transfer, and the bus drive would play stupid, making idiotic faces at like she was an animal. I see that shit in their own restaurant, where a prank caller would call and go, "I'm gonna bomb your shit back to China". It brings me to tears that maybe, this shit won't stop. Maybe this shit would continue. It happend to African-Americans, Women, Latinos and Hispanics, and now it's happening to Asians. All I ask of you is to pray. Because these tears, mine, yours, your families, your friends, aren't going to be the thing that stop this. |
